The Manda Slater Memorial Fund was set up by Manda’s family following her sudden death in September 2020.

Manda’s sister Sarah said “Our family’s love affair with Salcombe began in 1928, when our grandfather visited for a fishing trip, and it has continued with family holidays ever since. Dad is now 88 and still loves to visit! As a family, we have rarely had a year without a trip to Salcombe in the last 93 years”.

Manda’s daughter Mimi said “Salcombe was one of Mums happiest places. One of her last posts on Facebook, during her final holiday, said simply, ‘it’s perfect’”.

“And you could see the contentment on her face in a photo taken at the time, shortly before she was taken ill”, added daughter, Abbie.

Last week members of Manda’s family visited Salcombe RNLI Station and presented a cheque in the amount of £3,000 on behalf of the Manda Slater Memorial Fund, to Lifeboat Operations Manager Andrew Arthur.

Andrew thanked the family for the kind donation and said, “We are truly grateful to Manda’s family for this wonderful donation, which will help Salcombe Lifeboats continue its goal of “Saving Lives at Sea”.
