Volunteering with Salcombe Lifeboats

Volunteer for the RNLI and you’ll be part of a lifesaving tradition that has been going strong since 1824

Volunteers are the heart of the RNLI and make up the vast majority of our people. They are ordinary people who do extraordinary things and without them we couldn’t save lives at sea.

And it’s not all about volunteering on our lifeboats or at our stations; there are so many other ways you can give a little (or a lot) of your time to support the RNLI and make a lifesaving difference.

How you can volunteer

As a charity, the RNLI relies on volunteering to power its lifesaving service. From lifeboat crews to press officers, fundraisers to shop volunteers, people like you who help in all sorts of ways.

RNLI Shop Volunteers

The Salcombe RNLI shop is always in need of dedicated volunteers, especially during the busy summer months. Our volunteers provide a welcoming and efficient service to all visitors. Across the summer months the shop sees a lot of activity, with tourists drawn to both the lifeboat and the shop’s unique role as a small museum, attracting plenty of foot traffic.

Volunteers also have the chance to take on additional roles like stock coordination and merchandising.
The great thing about being a shop volunteer is that you can do as many or a few hours as you like and there is also the opportunity to support various fund raising activities across the year from the beach rugby at North Sands to a stall at the Kingsbridge show.

Please contact salcombe@rnli.org.uk for more details.

Parking
We understand parking in Salcombe can be difficult during peak season, so we’ve arranged access to nearby spaces at the local church for our volunteers.

Rally support, raise vital funds and join our fundraising volunteer crew

Lifesaving depends on people giving up their time and energy – people just like you. Our volunteers raise vital funds to pay for things like kit and training to keep volunteer crews safe. As part of our fundraising volunteer crew you’ll be helping to raise vital funds too.

As a fundraising volunteer you decide how much time to give, and when. That way you can fit your RNLI volunteering around your other commitments. And, like your fundraising crew mates, you’ll get a warm glow from knowing you are helping to save everyone.
